How to Be Greener in 2016: Recycle
Where to Find our Products

Reduce: check. Reuse: check. Now, we’re recycling. The last imperative in the environmental refrain. Recycling is an important element because, like when we reuse, we give things (commonly, our trash) a second life and a second purpose. This is critical because our world and our resources are not endless. We live in a beautiful country and on a beautiful earth, and yet maybe sometimes we forget that. When we are stuck inside at our jobs or our homes or our cars, we can easily forget where all of our stuff comes from. It comes from the earth. And most of the time, once we take it out, we can’t put it back in. Read More…

Outside the Breadbox
Outside the Breadbox is the BEST gluten free sandwich bread we have tried. Our customers love it! Our freezer is stocked with Outside the Breadbox Vegan Oat Bread. If you haven’t tried this bread, ask us for a sample. You will likely leave with a loaf - it’s that good! If you would like to pick up fresh bread, check with the bakery on Friday after 2:00pm. We’ve worked very hard to keep prices the same. Our shipping costs increased last November and that has forced us to raise our prices on Outside the Breadbox items. We are placing a big order so you can stock up prior to the price increase on March 18. Thank you for shopping with us!

Did you know we make custom paleo cakes?
Here’s what our customers had to say:
“I want to thank you so very much for all you and the Benefit Your Life team did to make a special cake for me. I have to tell you it turned out beautifully and really topped an already amazing birthday! It is THE most delicious cake I've had since going grain free/Paleo.
I know only a snippet of how much time, effort, creativity, experimentation, and endurance it must have taken to make this cake. I truly appreciate the special attention to detail you and the bakers put into making it truly Paleo. That is no small feat developing a recipe that not only meets those dietary requirements but tastes so delightful!
As it turned out, the vanilla cake with a layer of strawberry jam and vanilla frosting and another layer of apricot jam all iced in chocolate frosting was utterly wonderful. It was reminiscent of a lovely tea cake, like something you'd find at Downton Abbey, and I felt all posh getting to delight in such a treat!!!
I feel incredibly honored by all that everyone contributed to making it happen. Especially considering that your team managed to do all of this even in the midst of snowy weather that added another level of difficulty to the task. We’re so lucky to have such a great group of caring and creative people who go out of their way to provide gluten and grain free options with such heart!”
“It tastes as awesome as it looks!”

Last installment, we talked about the benefits of reducing the amount of trash we generate: taking practical steps to limit our consumption of energy and investing in items that will last instead of single-use disposable ones. This article will focus on the next instruction in our favorite refrain: Reuse. Of the three directives in the mantra Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, this one requires the least amount of effort. We do have to make some changes for the other two, but hardly so with the middle one. We all have trash! We just have to use our imaginations a little to figure out what to do with it. And we are creative, industrious people, right? Sure we are! This will be easy.
Let’s face it: trash happens. It is very hard to avoid creating and accumulating waste as we go through our day-to-day. (Side note: It is not, however, impossible. There are ways to live a zero-waste lifestyle. And while that is a worthy goal to aspire to and be inspired by, this article will be helpful to those of us who do, in fact, create trash.) But while we will almost always create waste, we do not always have to throw it away. We can, and should, find ways to reuse it. Read More…
